SBA's Updated SOP 50-10 
SBA's revised standard operating procedure (SOP 50-10) for its 7(a) and certified development company loan programs was published on March 17, 2008. The revised document took effect on August 1. The SOP 50-10 (5) includes significant changes to the SBA's environmental due diligence requirements.

SBA Postpones SOP 50-10 (5) Effective Date
April 23, 2008 — For the past month the SBA has been meeting with lenders and CDCs in eight different locations across the country to discuss clarifications and changes to the SOP and to give Lenders and CDCs an opportunity to raise concerns. While there were many questions and comments, overall the SOP was favorably received, especially its new, concise format and its search capabilities. As a result of those meetings, SBA has identified certain technical changes to the SOP that should be made prior to the SOP becoming effective.
