EDR’s Sanborn® Map service provides fire insurance map search results based on a search of the complete holdings of the original Sanborn Library, which dates from 1866 and includes over 1.2 million Sanborn Maps. This essential Phase I historical information source tracks the changing landscape and property uses of approximately 12,000 American cities and towns since the late 19th century. Since its acquisition of the Sanborn Map Company's collection in 1996, EDR has revolutionized the fire insurance map research process. The original Sanborn collection has been digitized and can be searched from your desktop through EDR's Web site. EDR's Sanborn Search Engine is the only system that searches the Sanborn Library collection using latitude and longitude and provides instant, site-specific search results. In May 2007, EDR introduced important new enhancements to its Sanborn® Map reports. EDR has made these improvements as part of our continuing commitment to provide you with the most comprehensive environmental due diligence tools backed by the highest-quality information and fastest turnaround time in the industry. There is no price change associated with these enhancements, and EDR’s clients who order Sanborn Maps will automatically begin receiving the enhanced Certified Sanborn® Map Reports with their next order. These latest enhancements to EDR’s Sanborn Map service include: • New, high-resolution scans of every map in the Sanborn Library. EDR has invested in rescanning each of the more than 1.2 million maps in the Sanborn Library. The result is that you will be able to see more detail--and extract more valuable information--than ever before. • A unique certification number that can be used to validate your search. The number, located on the cover page, search results summary page, and the maps themselves in every Certified Sanborn Map Report, assures you and your customers that you have conducted a search of Sanborn Library, the largest and most comprehensive collection of Sanborn Maps, and that you are licensed to reproduce the map images in your report. (Sanborn Maps obtained from EDR authorized resellers will receive the same certification benefits.) All the other features of EDR’s Sanborn Map service remain in place. Search by latitude/longitude; order and receive maps online; review instant map coverage results; use our Same-Day Sanborns! service to get your Sanborn Maps within one business day; and receive up to twenty Sanborn Maps covering your target property with each order. To learn more about the Certified Sanborn Map Report, contact your EDR representative.

The EDR City Directory Abstract, prepared by EDR research professionals located throughout the United States, provides detailed historical city directory information for a property and its surrounding area at five year intervals. Published for United States cities and towns since the 18th century, city directories identify the property name and use, e.g., gas stations, dry cleaners, etc.
Combine with our EDR Fire Insurance Map Abstract. When produced together, the resources complement each other to provide a complete history of a property. |
