EDR market research indicates that Phase I ESA volume in Texas in the fourth quarter of 2011 was down 9.1% from 4Q10.

Only one of the state's four largest metros saw growth from 4Q10:

  1. Austin +23%
  2. Houston -2%
  3. Dallas -4%
  4. San Antonio -20%

EDR launched its Annual Benchmarking Survey of Financial Institutions in November 2010. Here are a few highlights from Texas:

  • 84% of Texas lenders are relying more on the use of outside environmental consultants than they were two years ago.
  • Two-thirds of Texas lenders now conduct environmental due diligence on a greater percentage of commercial real estate loans than they did two years ago.
